What happens at the end of Manifest season 4 part 2?
Wow. Manifest season 4 part 2 just dropped on Netflix, and fans are going to need the whole weekend to recover. But what actually happened in the final episodes?
Despite NBC cancelling Manifest after three seasons, the streaming service revealed they had ordered a fourth and final instalment of the show back in 2021. The first 10 episodes of the series dropped on the streaming service on 4th November, with the second batch of episodes (so season 4 part 2) landing today [2nd June 2023].
The supernatural drama follows a group of passengers whose plane lands after years of being lost, who must try and reintegrate into society. Season four's synopsis explained, "Two years after the brutal murder of Grace turned their lives upside down, the Stone family is in shambles as a devastated Ben continues to mourn his wife and search for his kidnapped daughter, Eden. Consumed by his grief, Ben has stepped down from his role as co-captain of the lifeboat, leaving Michaela to captain it alone, a near impossible feat with the passengers’ every move now being monitored by a government registry.
"As the Death Date draws closer and the passengers grow desperate for a path to survival, a mysterious passenger arrives with a package for Cal that changes everything they know about Flight 828 and will prove to be the key to unlocking the secret of the Callings in this compelling, mind-bending, and deeply emotional journey."
So, how did the story end?
The final episode, which is called 'Final Boarding', sees Cal connect the power of two sapphires to create a beacon of light, bringing together all of the 828 passengers (including Angelica.) He sacrifices himself in the process.
The plane then rises up from the ground, and the passengers begin to board, with Ben and Micaela leading the way. When Angelina and her 'chosen eight' show up, they insist only they should be saved. Ben then holds a gun to her head, considering his opportunity to kill his wife's murderer, instead choosing to push Angelina onto the plane with the other passengers instead.
The world begins to burn just as the plane takes off, and the passengers begin to be judged by the higher power for their sins. As the judgement starts, Angelina's acquaintances burn to ash, deemed unworthy of saving, while Saanvi's skin also starts to split. She tells Ben she killed someone and deserves to die, and it's only when she confesses her sins, that she's saved.
Adrian's skin then begins to crack, with Eagan choosing to sacrifice himself instead. But when Adrian tells the higher power that doing something like that is the most selfless thing a person can do, something he wouldn't do, showing that people doing bad things doesn't necessarily make them evil, both Eagen and Adrian are saved.
Angelina then turns to ash as a result of her sins. The remaining characters believe they are now safe from the higher power's wrath, but it's not so simple. The bad entity then rises up from the ashes and forms an Archangel. In response, the group link arms and walk in its direction, with Ben and Michaela yelling out all the good deeds the remaining 828 passengers have done. It disappears, and the plane successfully lands.
When the plane door eventually opens, the passengers land in New York on 7th April 2013. Yep, the exact date and time the flight was meant to land the first time around. The rest of the world are oblivious to what has happened, meaning Ben is reunited with Grace and his two children, and Michaela finds Jared waiting for her at the terminal. After confronting him about how they want different things (and he should be with her friend Drea), she remembers Zeke works in airport drop-offs, and gets into his taxi, knowing they are going to be together. The passengers who were deemed not worthy by the higher power are reported as missing.
